Captain Vijayakanth's Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam completed its first anniversary on 14 September.

The party floated by Vijayakanth on 14 September, 2005, contested the elections independently and secured over 28 lakh votes emerging the third strong force in the State after AIADMK and DMK. Vijayakanth was elected as MLA from Vridhachalam Assembly constituency.

To commemorate the first anniversary, Vijayakanth along with his supporters chose to offer special worship at Pillayarpatti Vinayagar temple on Thursday. He performed special poojas along with office-bearers of his party.

Later, he resumed shooting for his Sabari at Managiri village near Pillayarpatti.

Elsewhere in Chennai, his wife Premalatha Vijayakanth celebrated the first anniversary of the party by distributing financial assistance worth Rs 25 lakh to poor students.

It is all happening for Vijayakanth otherwise too. His Perarasu is set for release today and is expected to have a decent run.

Vijayakanth plays a typical all-conquering CBI officer.
